Auto Focus Tab

Auto Focus Tab decides whether a scheduled website opens in front of you or quietly behind your current tab. When it is on, the new tab opens as the active tab, so a meeting or class page is ready to use the moment it appears. When it is off, the tab opens without pulling you away from what you are doing. Auto Focus Tab is part of Premium.

How Auto Focus Tab works

Each schedule has its own Auto Focus Tab switch, and a new schedule starts with the switch on. At the scheduled time, Tab Scheduler follows it like this.

• New tab. With the switch on, the tab opens as the active tab. With it off, the tab opens without being selected.
• New window. With Open URL In New Window, the window comes to the front when the switch is on and opens without focus when it is off.
• Refresh. With Refresh tab if URL is already open, the refreshed tab is selected and its window comes to the front when the switch is on.

The switch has no effect with Open URL in Background, because that option does not open a tab.

How to turn on Auto Focus Tab

1. Click the Tab Scheduler icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
2. Enter the website in Website Link.
3. Choose how often it should run in Select Frequency.
4. Set Schedule Type to Open a website or Open, then close, and fill in the open fields, such as Open Time.
5. Find the Auto Focus Tab switch near the bottom of the form, next to Schedule enabled. Leave it on to open the tab in front, or turn it off to open it quietly.
6. Click Save Schedule.

To change it later, edit the schedule in the Scheduled Tab List, flip the switch and save again.

When to use Auto Focus Tab

• Join on time. Your stand-up link opens at 9:55 on weekdays with the switch on, so the meeting page is right in front of you.
• Class starts now. An online lesson opens at 14:00 as the active tab, ready for you to sign in.
• Quiet reading list. A news site opens at 8:00 with the switch off. It waits in its tab until you are ready, and you stay in your email.

Good to know about Auto Focus Tab

• Auto Focus Tab is part of Premium, together with unlimited schedules and Import and Export.
• The setting is saved with each schedule, so some schedules can open in front while others open quietly.
• In the Scheduled Tab List, small icons show the options each schedule uses. Point at an icon to see its name.
• Your computer must be awake and the browser must be running at the scheduled time. Power Mode keeps the computer awake.
