Open websites on a schedule

Tab Scheduler can open any website for you at the time you choose. Set it up once and the page appears on its own, whether it is a single meeting link next Tuesday or your news site every morning. It helps anyone who opens the same pages at the same times and is tired of doing it by hand.

How opening a website on a schedule works

Each schedule pairs a website link with a time. When that time comes, Tab Scheduler opens the link in a new tab. You can type the address with or without https:// at the start. If you leave it out, Tab Scheduler adds it for you. The page opens at exactly the address you typed.

You decide how often it runs in Select Frequency. You can open a site just once with One Time, every few minutes or seconds, every hour, every day, on chosen days of the week, once a month, once a year, after a random wait, or with On Browser Open as soon as the browser starts.

Each time a scheduled tab opens, you see a short notification. If you prefer it quiet, turn on Don't notify me when this runs for that schedule.

How to schedule a website to open

1. Click the Tab Scheduler icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
2. Type the address in Website Link, for example www.example.com/news. You can also add a Title so the schedule is easy to find later.
3. Choose how often it should run in Select Frequency.
4. Leave Schedule Type on Open a website. This is the default.
5. Fill in the time fields that appear. Most frequencies need an Open Time. One Time and Every Year also need an Open Date, Every Week needs at least one day in Open on days, and Every Month needs a day in Open on Day.
6. Look through More options for extras such as Open URL In New Window, Open in incognito mode or Refresh tab if URL is already open.
7. Click Save Schedule. The new schedule appears in the Scheduled Tab List.

When to use opening a website on a schedule

• Daily stand-up. Choose Every Week, tick Monday to Friday in Open on days and set Open Time to 9:55. Your meeting link is waiting five minutes before the call.
• A one-off webinar. Choose One Time, pick the date in Open Date and set the time to 13:55. The webinar page opens just before it starts, even if you forgot about it.
• Morning reading. Choose Every Day at 7:30 for a site such as news.example.com. Tick Refresh tab if URL is already open and Tab Scheduler reloads the tab you left open yesterday instead of adding a second copy.

Good to know about opening a website on a schedule

• Your computer must be awake and the browser must be running at the scheduled time. Schedules do not run while the computer is asleep. Turn on Power Mode to stop the computer from going to sleep.
• For one-time, daily, weekly, monthly and yearly schedules you can tick Run on browser start if missed at scheduled time. If the browser was closed at that time, the tab opens when the browser starts again on the same day.
• The link must be a valid web address. A link that ends in * is only allowed when you close tabs.
• If you only want a nudge, tick Just remind me (don't open the tab). You then get a notification with Open now and Skip buttons instead.
• A One Time schedule whose time has already passed shows Time Expired in the list.
• The free plan includes up to 5 schedules. Premium gives you unlimited schedules and Auto Focus Tab, which opens the new tab as the active tab.
• The browser allows Tab Scheduler up to 500 active alarms. If you reach that limit, Tab Scheduler shows a warning and will not save new schedules until you delete some.
