Warning before closing

Get a notification 60 seconds before a tab closes, with Keep open and Snooze 10 min buttons.

Warn me 60 seconds before closing gives you a one-minute heads-up before a schedule closes your tabs. You get a notification with Keep open and Snooze 10 min, so you can finish a form, save your work or keep the page a little longer. It helps anyone whose close schedules sometimes catch them in the middle of something.

How the warning before closing works

One minute before the close time, Tab Scheduler shows a notification that says This tab will close in 60 seconds, followed by the website link. You then have three choices.

  • Do nothing. The tabs close at the scheduled time. Closing the notification without clicking a button does not stop this.
  • Keep open. This close is cancelled and your tabs stay open. A repeating schedule still runs again at its next time.
  • Snooze 10 min. The tabs close 10 minutes later instead. There is no second warning after the snooze.

A schedule closes every tab that matches its link, so you get one warning per schedule, not one per tab. Your answer covers every matching tab, including tabs you open during the warning or the snooze. Options such as Do not close pinned tabs and Do not close active tab still apply when the tabs finally close.

The warning is only for closes at a fixed time. You can use it with One Time, Every Hour, Every Day, Every Week, Every Month and Every Year. For interval frequencies, such as Every 10 Minute, Custom Minute, Custom Second or Random Minute, the option is hidden.

When to use the warning before closing

  • Bedtime video. A schedule closes youtube.com every day at 22:00. The warning gives you time to pause, and Snooze 10 min lets you watch the last few minutes.
  • End of the workday. A schedule closes your project board, board.example.com, at 17:30 on weekdays. On a late day, click Keep open and carry on.
  • Meetings that run over. An Open, then close schedule opens a meeting link at 10:00 and closes it at 11:00. If the meeting is still going, snooze the close.

Good to know about the warning before closing

  • The warning is a browser notification, so notifications must be allowed for your browser in your computer's settings.
  • Close All Scheduled Link in the schedule list closes matching tabs straight away, without a warning.
  • If you pause all schedules while a warning or snooze is waiting, it is cancelled and the tabs stay open.
  • If you save a schedule less than a minute before its close time, the warning appears at the close time and the tabs close one minute later.
  • This option is free on every plan.

Questions and answers

The tabs close at the scheduled time. Closing the notification without clicking a button does not stop the close.

Why can't I find the warning option?

It only appears for fixed-time closes, which are One Time, Every Hour, Every Day, Every Week, Every Month and Every Year. It is hidden for minute and second intervals.
