When the browser opens

Open a website as soon as you start your browser, on the days of the week you choose.

Open a website as soon as you start your browser, on the days of the week you pick. It is a simple way to have your email, calendar or work tools ready every morning without opening them by hand.

How opening a website when the browser starts works

Choose On Browser Open as the frequency and tick the days you want. Each time the browser starts on one of those days, Tab Scheduler opens the website. There is no clock time to set, because the start of the browser is the trigger.

This frequency only opens websites, so Schedule Type stays on Open a website. The opening options under More options still apply, so the website can open in a new window or in incognito mode, or refresh a tab that is already open.

In the Scheduled Tab List, the schedule shows the days it is set for.

  • Workday start. Create one schedule for mail.example.com and one for calendar.example.com, both for Monday to Friday. They open when you start the browser on a workday.
  • Weekend reading. Open a news site such as bbc.com only on Saturday and Sunday.
  • A daily board in its own window. Tick Check All and Open URL In New Window for your team board, so it opens every day in a window apart from your other tabs.

  • It runs when the browser starts, not when you open another window while the browser is still running.
  • Tick at least one day, or the schedule will not save.
  • The schedule must be turned on with Schedule enabled, and Tab Scheduler must not be paused.
  • To open in incognito mode, first turn on Allow in Incognito for Tab Scheduler in your browser's extension settings.
  • Want a website at a fixed time that still opens later if the browser was closed then? Use a timed schedule with Run on browser start if missed at scheduled time.

Questions and answers

Does it open again when I open a new window?

No. It runs when the browser itself starts. Opening more windows while the browser is running does not trigger it.

Can I close a website when the browser opens?

No. "On Browser Open" only opens websites, so "Close matching tabs" and "Open, then close" are not available with it.

Can I open several websites when the browser starts?

Yes. Create one schedule for each website and choose the same days.

How is this different from catching up on missed schedules?

"On Browser Open" always runs at browser start on the chosen days. "Run on browser start if missed at scheduled time" only opens a timed schedule when its time was missed earlier that day.
