Every hour at a set minute

Run once an hour at the minute you pick, for example at 15 minutes past every hour.

Run a schedule once every hour at the minute you choose, for example at 15 minutes past every hour. It is handy for hourly check-ins, regular breaks, or closing a site at the same point in every hour.

How an hourly schedule works

Choose Every Hour in Select Frequency and pick a minute from 00 to 59. Tab Scheduler then runs at that minute in every hour, all day long. Pick 15 and it runs at 9:15, 10:15, 11:15 and so on.

Under the minute box, a short line starting with Open on or Close on shows the next time it will run, so you can check your choice at a glance. In the schedule list, a schedule that opens a website also shows Next run.

With Close matching tabs, a matching tab closes the next time the chosen minute comes around. With Open, then close, you pick one minute for opening and another for closing, such as opening on the hour and closing at 50 minutes past.

How to run a schedule every hour

  1. Click the Tab Scheduler icon in the toolbar and choose Settings.
  2. Enter the address in Website Link and, if you like, a Title.
  3. In Select Frequency, choose Every Hour.
  4. Choose a Schedule Type.

When to use an hourly schedule

  • Hourly inbox check. Open mail.example.com at minute 00 with Refresh tab if URL is already open ticked, so the same tab reloads at the top of each hour.
  • Stretch break. Pick minute 50 for a stretching video and tick Just remind me (don't open the tab). Ten minutes before each hour you get a reminder and choose Open now or Skip.
  • Short social breaks. Use Close matching tabs for facebook.com at minute 30 with URL Filtering ticked. Any Facebook tab closes at the next half past.

Good to know about an hourly schedule

  • The minute always means minutes past the hour on your computer's clock. If you leave it at 00, the schedule runs on the hour.
  • Warn me 60 seconds before closing works with Every Hour. You get a notification with Keep open and Snooze 10 min before the tab closes.
  • Without Refresh tab if URL is already open, each run opens a new tab.
  • The browser must be open and the computer awake. Power Mode (keep computer awake) helps on long days.
  • For a set time once a day, use Every Day instead.
