Pause and resume all
Stop every schedule with one switch and start them again when you are ready.
Sometimes you want Tab Scheduler to stay quiet for a while, during a holiday, a presentation or a day off. The pause switch stops every schedule at once, and one more click starts them all again. Nothing is deleted or changed.
How pausing all schedules works
The switch is at the top of the toolbar popup and at the top of the settings page. Its tooltip says Pause or resume all schedules. When everything is running, the switch shows a green check with the tooltip Running Tab scheduler. When everything is paused, it shows a red power symbol with the tooltip Paused Tab scheduler.
While paused, scheduled times pass without any action. No tabs are opened or closed and no reminders or close warnings are shown. Close warnings and reminders already on your screen are cleared. The count on the extension icon is hidden, the Next run times disappear from the schedule list, and the popup tells you that all schedules are paused.
Each schedule keeps its own on or off switch. When you resume, the schedules that were on carry on from their next scheduled time.
How to pause and resume all schedules
- Click the Tab Scheduler icon in the toolbar.
- Click the switch next to Settings at the top of the popup. The popup now shows that all schedules are paused.
- To resume, click the switch again. Your schedules run as before.
- You can use the same switch at the top of the settings page, or press Alt+Shift+P while using the browser. With the shortcut, a notification confirms All schedules paused or All schedules resumed.
When to use pausing all schedules
- You are on holiday for a week. Pause everything on Friday so your work tabs do not open at home, and resume on Monday morning.
- You are about to share your screen in a video call. Press Alt+Shift+P so no tab opens or closes during the call, and press it again afterwards.
- Someone else will use your laptop for an afternoon. Pause, hand it over, and resume when you get it back. All your schedules are still there with their settings.
Good to know about pausing all schedules
- Pausing does not change the on or off switch of each schedule. To stop just one schedule, switch it off in the Scheduled Tab List instead.
- You can change the Alt+Shift+P shortcut on your browser's keyboard shortcuts page.
- If you are logged in, the switch position is also saved to your account and loaded when you log in on another browser.
- Pausing does not turn off Power Mode (keep computer awake). If you pause for a long time, you may want to switch Power Mode off as well, so your computer can sleep normally.
