Today’s count on the icon
The extension icon shows how many schedules are still due to open today.
The Tab Scheduler icon in your browser toolbar can show a small number. It tells you how many of your schedules are still due to open a website today, so you can see what is coming up without opening the extension.
How the count on the icon works
Tab Scheduler counts schedules that open a website, meaning Open a website and Open, then close, that are switched on and still have a run ahead of them today. Each frequency is counted like this.
- One Time counts when its date is today and the time has not passed yet.
- Every Day counts until its open time has passed.
- Every Week counts on the days you picked, until the open time has passed.
- Every Month counts on its day of the month, and Every Year on its date, until the open time has passed.
- Schedules that repeat every few minutes, every hour, every few seconds or at a random interval count all day while they are switched on.
- On Browser Open schedules are not counted, since they run when the browser starts.
The number goes down as schedules run, and it updates when you add, change, switch off or delete a schedule. When nothing is left for today, or when all schedules are paused, the number disappears.

When to use the count on the icon
- You have daily schedules at 9:55, 13:00 and 17:30. At 8:00 the icon shows 3. After the 13:00 run it shows 1.
- On Saturday your weekday work schedules are not counted, so the icon shows only your weekend schedules, or no number at all.
- Before you leave your desk at 18:00, the icon shows no number, so you know no more scheduled tabs will open today.
Good to know about the count on the icon
- Schedules that only close tabs are never counted.
- Schedules that repeat every few minutes keep counting while they are switched on, so the number may not drop to zero during the day.
- Schedules that are switched off or marked Locked are not counted.
- When you pause all schedules, the number disappears. It comes back when you resume them.
- There is no setting to hide the number. It shows only when something is still due today.
