Next run and last run

See when each schedule runs next and when it last ran. Past one-time schedules show Time Expired.

The Scheduled Tab List shows two helpful times for your schedules. Next run tells you when a schedule will open its website next, and Last run tells you when it last opened or closed a tab. You can check that a schedule is set up the way you meant without waiting for it to run.

How Next run and Last run work

Next run appears in the Open Time column. Tab Scheduler works it out from the schedule's own settings and shows the date and time in the format of your language. It appears for schedules that open a website and use One Time, Every Hour, Every Day, Every Week, Every Month or Every Year. For a weekly schedule it shows the nearest of the days you picked.

When the date and time of a One Time schedule have already passed, there is no next run. The list shows Time Expired instead, so you know the schedule will not run again unless you change it.

Last run comes from your schedule history. It shows the most recent time the schedule opened, refreshed or closed a tab. For schedules that only close tabs it appears in the Close Time column, and for all others under Open Time.

How to check Next run and Last run

There is nothing to turn on. Both times appear on their own.

  1. Click the Tab Scheduler icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
  2. Create a schedule as usual. Enter the Website Link, choose Every Day in Select Frequency, keep Schedule Type as Open a website and set the Open Time.
  3. Click Save Schedule.
  4. Find the schedule in the Scheduled Tab List. Next run shows under the open time.
  5. After the schedule has run, reload the settings page. Last run now shows as well.
1Next run, 2Last run, 3Time Expired on a one-time schedule that has passed.

When to use Next run and Last run

  • You set a weekly schedule for Monday and Thursday at 9:55. On Tuesday the list shows a Next run on Thursday, which confirms you picked the right days.
  • A one-time schedule for last week's webinar now shows Time Expired. Edit it with the date of the next session, or delete it.
  • You were away from your desk at 8:00. Last run shows today at 8:00, so you know your news site opened on time.

Good to know about Next run and Last run

  • Next run is not shown for schedules that repeat every few minutes, every few seconds or at a random interval, for On Browser Open, or for schedules that only close tabs.
  • Next run is hidden while a schedule is switched off, while all schedules are paused, and for schedules marked Locked.
  • The times are worked out when the list loads. If the settings page has been open for a while, reload it to see the latest times.
  • Last run uses the schedule history stored on this device. If you clear the history, Last run disappears until the schedule runs again.
  • Next run is the planned time. Schedules cannot run while your computer is asleep, so turn on Power Mode (keep computer awake) if you need them on time.
