Titles and descriptions
Give each schedule a name and a note so a long list stays easy to read.
Every schedule can have a Title and a Description. The title is a short name, such as Team stand-up, and the description is a note for yourself. Both are optional, but they make a long list much easier to read, especially when several schedules use the same website.
How titles and descriptions work
The title and description are saved with the schedule and shown wherever that schedule appears.
- In the Scheduled Tab List, both have their own column.
- In the toolbar popup, Current tab schedule shows them next to the open and close times.
- When a tab opens or closes and notifications are on, the notification includes them.
- A Just remind me (don't open the tab) reminder shows the title above the link.
- On the History page, the title appears under the link of each entry.
- A CSV export includes both, in the Title and Description columns.
When your list has more than five schedules, a Search box and a Select Column menu appear above it. With Select Column you can search only titles, only website links or only descriptions.
How to add a title and a description
- Click the Tab Scheduler icon in your toolbar and choose Settings.
- Enter the Website Link, then type a short name in Title, the next field.
- Choose Select Frequency, Schedule Type and the times as usual.
- Under More options, find Description below the checkboxes and type your note.
- Click Save Schedule.
To change them later, click the edit icon in the schedule's row, change the text and click Save Schedule again.
When to use titles and descriptions
- You have three schedules for docs.google.com, each opening a different document. Titles like Monday report, Budget sheet and Meeting notes tell them apart at a glance.
- A video call link opens at 9:55 every weekday. With the title Team stand-up, the notification tells you what is starting, not only the long meeting link.
- A close schedule shuts social media sites at 22:00. The description Close so I stop scrolling before bed reminds you why you set it up, even months later.
Good to know about titles and descriptions
- A title can be up to 200 characters. If it is longer, Tab Scheduler shows a warning and does not save the schedule until you shorten it.
- Both fields are optional. A schedule without them shows a dash in those columns.
- Notifications only appear when they are on for that schedule, which means Don't notify me when this runs is switched off.
