Schedule history
See which schedules ran and when. History stays on this device, and you can clear it any time.
Tab Scheduler keeps a simple log of what your schedules did. Each time a schedule opens, closes or refreshes a tab, a line is added with the website link, the time and the action. It helps you check that a schedule ran while you were away, or find out why a tab suddenly closed.
How schedule history works
The Tab Schedule History page lists every recorded action, newest first. Each line shows the URL, the Time and the Action, which is Open, Close or Refresh. Refresh appears when a schedule that uses Refresh tab if URL is already open finds the website open and reloads that tab instead of opening a new one. If the schedule has a title, the title is shown under the link, so you can tell which schedule did it.
A close schedule that closes three matching tabs adds three lines, one for each tab. Tab Scheduler keeps the latest 500 entries and removes older ones on its own.
The same records are used for the Last run time shown for each schedule in the Scheduled Tab List.
How to view and clear your schedule history
History is always on, so there is nothing to switch on. To view it and tidy it up, follow these steps.
- Click the Tab Scheduler icon in your browser toolbar and choose Settings.
- Click History in the menu at the top of the settings page.
- Type part of a link or a title in Search to find entries. Click the URL or Time heading to sort, and choose how many lines to show at the bottom of the list (10, 25, 50 or All).
- To remove some entries, tick their boxes and click Delete Selected. The box in the heading row ticks every entry on the page.
- To remove everything, click Clear History. Both buttons ask you to confirm first.
When to use schedule history
- A daily schedule opens your team dashboard at 8:30. You get to your desk at 10:00 and want to be sure it ran. Open the history and look for an Open line at 8:30 with the dashboard link.
- A tab closed while you were still using it. Search for the site, for example docs.google.com. The Close line shows the time and the title of the schedule that closed it, so you know which schedule to edit or switch off.
- Before you lend your laptop to someone, click Clear History so the list of sites your schedules opened is gone.
Good to know about schedule history
- History is stored only on this device. It is not saved to your account and does not show up in other browsers, even when you log in there.
- Only actions done by Tab Scheduler are recorded. Tabs you open or close yourself are not listed.
- Websites that a schedule opens or closes in incognito are recorded too. Clear them if other people use the computer.
- Clearing history also removes the Last run times from the schedule list, because they come from the same records. Your schedules are not changed and keep running.
Questions and answers
Is my schedule history saved to my account?
No. History is stored only on this device and is not synced to other browsers or devices, even when you are logged in.
How many entries does the history keep?
Tab Scheduler keeps the latest 500 entries. When a new entry is added after that, the oldest one is removed.
What does Refresh mean in the Action column?
It means a schedule found the website already open and reloaded that tab instead of opening a new one. This happens when Refresh tab if URL is already open is ticked for that schedule.
Does Clear History delete my schedules?
No. It only removes the history entries. Your schedules keep running, but their Last run times disappear from the list until they run again.
